The Opportunity:

 Operations Manager Vapor Control/Tank Degassing Service Line


The Operations Manager for the vapor control/tank degassing service line is a key role to Clean Harbors Vapor Control Service Line. The Vapor Control Operations Manager coordinates day to day field activities, woks with Field Project Managers and Field Supervisors to assure that all field operations are planned and executed to the highest safety and quality standards. The Vapor Control Operations Manager is the First Line Supervisor in administrating the service line health, safety and transportation compliance programs. The Vapor Control Operations Manager interact with Sales Team and other support staff as well as Customer Contractor Manager to ensure customer expectations are meet, and/or exceeded. The Vapor Control Operations Managers assist with the development of the service line budget and management of the service line P&L.


Educational requirements:


High School or GED equivalent with minimum 10 years industrial cleaning experience of which five years have been served in a management capacity or BS degree or business discipline or engineering discipline and a minimum 5 years in a management capacity.

  • Ability to coordinate crews efficiently and effectively using good listening skills, motivating skills and communication skills. Must be able to communicate efficiently with employees, clients, and venders
  • Ability to successfully resolve customer/employee complaints and motivate the team
  • Must have critical thinking skills and be able to analyze situations and make decisions geared towards the best interest of the service lines and the company
  • Must have the ability to resolve conflicts as they arise between employees and set policies and guidelines for how to complete task without reoccurring errors
  • Must have the able to use computer skills and a variety of communications tools to direct team members and field operators
  • Must have the ability for budget development and assist with managing the service line P&L statement
  • Must be able to mentor direct reports in carrier development and perform annual review to reward employees for accomplishments and set goals and expectations for growth and development
  • Must be fluent in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook), MS Teams, Corporate data entry




  • Schedule and lead project kick-off meeting with Vapor Control Project Managers, Supervisors, Ops. Coordinator, Sales Managers and Admin Staff
  • Assist Project Managers with the day-to-day staffing needs and dispatch of vapor control service line field employees (30 to 50 field employee staff)
  • Communicate schedule daily utilizing electronic force reporting to all vapor control employees
  • Manage crew dispatch to optimize the number of available crews for projects while maintain highest service standards.
  • Proactively resolve potential field issues by keeping in communications with project managers on a routine basis
  • Review purchasing quotes, approve PO generation and approve invoice processing




  • Coordinate the implementation and utilization of the following project management tools:
    • Proposal review, Environmental project matrix, Project load out sheets,
    • Job Loss Analysis, Loss Prevention Observations, Near Loss, Loss & Stop Work reporting
    • Conduct and lead monthly Loss Prevention Stewardship meeting
    • Assist with the interviewing and hiring of field operators and technicians
    • Directly supervises employees including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with Company HR policies, practices, and procedures.
