Clean Harbors Elgin, IL is looking for a Welder to join their safety conscious team! The Elgin location is a state-of-the-art facility specializing in rebuilding of Heavy-Duty Diesel Trucks; including Vacuum Trucks, Tanker Trucks, Tractors and Straight Trucks. The facility is climate controlled with HVAC. 

The Welder is primarily responsible for customized welding and fabrication of tank truck frames, bumpers and related pipework on our fleet of Tank/Vac Trucks. Daily tasks include; welding, cutting, uninstalling/installing items such as Tanks, subframes, bumpers, pipework regularly.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
• Participate in Safety activities such as monthly inspections, updates safety boards, conducts daily toolbox talks, etc. as per company specific policies;
• Perform welding, cutting, grinding and use of a plasma cutter;
• Accurately record time, parts, and inspection checklists electronically;
• Move company equipment safely in yard and shop as needed;
• Ensure the shop area is kept clean, tidy and free of hazards at all times as per office expectations, reporting all hazards and near misses as appropriate;
• Install customized and fabricating components such as bumpers, frames, pump brackets and toolbox brackets;
• Enter time and materials into an electronic work order system.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors? 

• At least 3 years of experience as a welder, in a shop environment is preferred;
• Previous equipment/vehicle experience is an asset;
• Previous experience with MIG/TIG welding on carbon steel is preferred;
• Possess a 3G certification and ability to pass a structural welding test;
• Possess basic computer skills and ability to use web-based software and vehicle diagnostic systems.
