The Opportunity:

HydroChemPSC is looking for an Analyst to join their safety conscious team! Performs microscopic identification of foreign material in automotive paint and seeks root causes for defect source elimination which impacts/improves customer first time quality

Essential Duties:

  • Collecting data on paint defects (both defect count and microscopic defect identification) at various points in the paint process
  • Characterizing the types of contamination and paint defects affecting the paint finish
  • Using statistical process control (SPC) guidelines to chart this data in a way that can be understood and used by the Paint Shop Manager and the paint department staff
  • Updating and maintaining paint shop display board with current and historical defect data
  • Preparing and issuing daily reports
  • Identifying the sources of contaminants and causes of the defects
  • Establishing and maintaining a paint defect reference library specifically for the paint department
  • Determining appropriate corrective actions to eliminate (or minimize) the defects
  • Leading (and if necessary, helping to develop) a Paint Defect Reduction Team and soliciting the support of suppliers or other departments for the team and its dirt reduction activities
  • Attending paint shop quality and productivity meetings
  • Working occasionally during non-production times to check status of filter changes or cleaning activities
  • Participating in and stewarding the loss prevention system program and meeting the program requirements
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Working Environment:

  • Lab/Plan Environment

Skills and Experience:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word & Excel, etc)
  • Ability to participate on a team and to present information in front of a group
  • Paint defect analysis skills
  • Ability to use microscope proficiently

Educational Requirements:

  • High Diploma or equivalent required
  • BS degree in Chemistry or scient related discipline preferred or equivalent related experience
