The Opportunity:

Clean Harbors is currently seeking a Field Chemist. This person would be responsible for assisting in the collection, identification and proper packaging and/or lab packing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste at this specific site location as well as spill response activities on site.

Please note: This position is NOT in a typical lab setting, this position requires up to 100% field work in various working conditions, mainly in an industrial refinery setting with hands on physical labor tasks associated with the position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Responsible for collecting, identifying and packaging Hazardous waste produced within customer facility;
  • Prepare waste drums for pick-up and delivery;
  • Answer phone calls and manage customer request;
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area and grounds;
  • Completes and submits all associated paperwork as required for waste tracking movements;
  • Ensure drum count is correct and that drum conditions are shippable in accordance to the policies and procedures of Clean Harbors.


  • Valid DL & clean driving record;
  • Previous experience in hazardous material handling, and/or lab packing experience a preference;
  • College degree in chemistry, biology or other natural science preferred;
  • Ability to obtain/retain Class B CDL with Endorsements upon hire;
  • Strong customer service skills;
  • Ability to travel as business demands require.
