Clean Harbors is currently looking for an experienced Health and Safety Representative to join the team. This role is responsible for travelling to various client sites throughout Western Canada to provide complete, thorough, and professional health, safety, and environmental advice; for promoting a positive safety culture and for anticipating and assessing health and safety hazards.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors? 

  • 5+ years of OH&S experience;
  • Construction related safety is an asset;
  • NCSO designation required;
  • OH&S certificate is an asset;
  • Working knowledge of Tap Root and or DNV-SCAT Root Cause Analysis methodology is an asset;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Ensuring that Health & Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Audit performance and compliance with Health & Safety policies, programs, and procedures;
  • Assist in development and review of Health & Safety programs;
  • Identify new Health & Safety programs needs or changes to existing programs;
  • Conduct incident investigations;
  • Conduct Safety Meetings on topics designed to promote a better understanding of company Health & Safety policies, programs, procedures or general Health & Safety;
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to assure compliance with Corporate Health & Safety policies, programs, procedures and guidelines, and proper work practices needed to maintain a safe and healthful operation and work site;
  • Provide leadership, guidance and advice for maintaining workplace health & safety and training compliance to the operations groups; along with guidance on Clean Harbors specific processes and expectations
  • Coach management and supervisory teams to further enhance their safety responsibility and performance; Foster and maintain positive client and Clean Harbors operational relationships.


What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • Minimum of 5 years Health and Safety experience in an industrial setting;
  • Fly In/Fly Out (FIFO) schedule from/to Edmonton or Calgary;
  • Accommodations provided;
  • Working knowledge of Alberta OHS legislation;
  • A recognized Occupational Health and Safety designation preferred, along with First Aid, Confined Space and Fall Protection certification;
  • Clean Class 5 driver's license
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
