Clean Harbors Nisku, AB is looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join their safety conscious team! You will be working alongside a manufacturing team of welders and millwrights building and assembling Clean Harbors vacuum trucks. The job will consist of disassembly of donor units, refurb of vacuum equipment then refurbed equipment on new chassis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Ensures that all equipment is properly secured prior to work/repairs, (i.e.: uses chock blocks and  jack stands);
  • Corrects all equipment deficiencies and performs preventative maintenance tasks on company vehicles and equipment;
  • Performs thorough inspections of equipment and identifies required repairs;
  • Performs routine and specific maintenance tasks;
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses electrical and hydraulic systems;
  • Disassembles, inspects and replaces worn or broken parts;
  • Fits and adjusts new or repaired parts;
  • Fills out and submits all required documentation in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Ensures the shop area is kept clean, tidy and free of hazards at all times. 

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician certification preferred;
  • 3rd or 4th year Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician;
  • 2-years’ experience working as a Heavy Equipment Technician;
  • Previous experience working on hydraulics preferred;
  • Previous experience with electrical work;
  • Class 5 drivers’ license.
