The Opportunity

The Senior Network Engineer assists in the design, implementation, documentation and maintenance of network communications.  In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN systems is required in order to facilitate design and installation of internal and external networks.  The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for performing and testing & troubleshooting in order to isolate and eliminate problems.  In addition, this person serves as primary contact for remote locations and customers to obtain clarification of problems and provide resolution for system failures or degradations.

As senior engineer it is required to rely on one’s experience and judgment to in order to plan and execute work necessary to accomplish the goals of the business.

The person selected for this position will be responsible for evaluation and documentation of current systems, solving complex problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth evaluation of various factors and planning large scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies.

Reporting to the Manager of the network services team, the Senior Network Engineer is also expected to provide leadership, mentoring and training to lower level network engineers.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot complex network related issues;
  • Evaluate, design, deploy, and maintain primary networking infrastructure;
  • Install internal and external networks;
  • Maintain networking infrastructure and communications;
  • Evaluate existing systems for potential problems / improvements;
  • Work with vendors to evaluate, recommend and deploy new hardware and software;
  • Work with vendors to troubleshoots issues inside and outside the primary network;
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance to applications and server teams;
  • Work with users and field personnel in remote locations to install and maintain firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points and VoIP telephony components;
  • Produce and maintain clear documentation illustrating up-to-date network topology and easy to follow procedures;
  • Maintain documentation and allocate IP addressing company wide;
  • Effectively communicate step by step instructions with non-technical personnel acting as remote hands;

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • AA/AS in Computer Science required, BS/BA in Computer Science preferred;
  • 7-10 years of related experience working with a large scale diverse network;
  • Preferred industry certifications include Cisco's CCNA, CCNP or CCIE with focus on Route/Switch and Unified Communications and Palo Alto CNSE;
  • Must be able to demonstrate expert level expertise deploying, administering, and troubleshooting network technologies including, but not limited to the following
  • Must be able to demonstrate expert level expertise deploying, administering, and troubleshooting network technologies including, but not limited to the followingMust be able to demonstrate expert ability to troubleshoot network connectivity, specifically Layers 1-3 of OSI Mode
    • Cisco routers and switches, Cisco Identity Servies Engine (ISE), Cisco Wireless Lan Controllers, Meraki Wireless technology, Configuring and troubleshooting Dynamic Routing Portocols including EIGRP, OSPF and BGP, Cisco Nexus data center equipment, Palo Alto Firewall hardware and Panorama management software, and IPSec VPN Tunnels
  • Experience with F5 load balancers
  • Configuration and monitoring of Intrusion Detection and Intrusion Prevention systems
  • Configuring VPN both Site-to-Site and client
  • Firewall configuration specifically Palo Alto
  • Working knowledge of VoIP systems
  • Thorough understanding of Routing protocols specifically OSPF, EIGRP, & BGP
  • Configuring IDS / IPS
  • Configuring VPN both Site-to-Site and client
  • Firewall configuration specifically Palo Alto
  • Working knowledge of VoIP systems
  • Thorough understanding of Routing protocols specifically OSPF, EIGRP, & BGP
