The Opportunity

Our location is currently looking for an experienced Health and Safety Representative to join the team. This is a temporary role. This role is responsible for providing complete, thorough and professional health, safety and environmental advice, promoting a positive safety culture, and for anticipating and assessing health and safety hazards.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Be a courageous safety leader in all that you do.
  • Visit operating locations and project sites to provide health and safety support including fostering a values-based safety culture.
  • Conduct health and safety inspections, observations and audits to proactively identify gaps. Work with locations on identified gaps to develop and implement meaningful corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development of hazard assessments and procedures.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, guidance, and advice for maintaining and improving health & safety performance.
  • Support health and safety initiatives and implementation of policies, procedures & processes.
  • Work with Operational Leaders during incident investigations to determine true root causes of incidents to develop and implement meaningful corrective actions.
  • Foster and maintain internal and external client relationships.
  • Travel is required to support field operating locations within the assigned territory. Travel expectations will be determined based on business needs and overnight travel will be required.

Key Qualifications: 

  • Post-secondary education in the field of Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Sciences.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a field-based health and safety position. Preference will be given to those with experience in a hazardous waste management, environmental services or an industrial setting.
  • NSCO or CRSP designation.
  • Excellent computer skills (i.e. MS Office Suite).
  • Holds a valid driver's license with a clean driver’s abstract.

  • Ability and willingness to learn / develop new skill sets
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Lead by example.
