The Opportunity

The Director of Strategic Initiatives is responsible for the overall deployment and management of continuous improvement activities across all business lines in the United States and Canada. The leader will be responsible for managing various aspects of continuous improvement projects including, but not limited to, data gathering, analysis, change management, initiative tracking and reporting on projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Work with corporate and functional leaders to define initiatives to drive operational and financial performance improvement.
  • Support business owners with data gathering and analysis to define value creation opportunity and methodology to measure impact.
  • Assist project owners with work plan development and project management.
  • Manage the tracking and reporting of continuous improvement activities and impact.
  • Identify cross-functional challenges and project roadblocks; facilitate issue communication and resolution.
  • Lead business and project leaders in cross-functional problem-solving.
  • Develop standard processes to create best practices for continuous improvement across Clean Harbors.
  • Support other Corporate Development initiatives (such as M&A) as necessary.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • BS Degree (business, operations, finance preferred)
  • 7+ years of proven success in a project management role or within a lean or process improvement function, in a large complex organization.
  • Ability to structure and solve problems across multiple business functions.
  • Demonstrated skill with data gathering and analysis.
  • Analytical and reporting proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to engage business leaders and front line employees in collaborative problem solving.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
