 The Instrument & Electrical Technician performs hands on instrument checks, calibrations and PLC Logic programming. Diagnoses problems in control circuitry. Assists electrical department and maintenance department in all tasks when requested.

 

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.

• Troubleshoots instrument and control malfunctions, performs preventative maintenance checks and calibrations using manufacturers manuals and electronic testing equipment.

• Maintains accurate records and logs as required of calibration checks.

• Installs new systems and controls including power wiring.

• Installs cabling, power distribution systems, motor control centers, service and replace motors, lighting, and perform general electrical maintenance work under direction of an electrician as necessary.

• Performs on-call work during off-hours as necessary.

• Follows safe and compliant working procedures.

• Maintains a clean work environment.

• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.

 

 EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE

• High School diploma or equivalency.

• 2+ years of plant experience.

• Electrical training.

• Electrical license preferred.

• 40 hour OSHA training.

• Ability to work in a team environment.

• Ability to work off-hours on an on-call basis.

• Proficiency in blueprint reading of electronic schematics.

• Proficiency in process and instrumentation diagrams.

• Proficiency in PLC Ladder logic trees.

 

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Lifting up to 50 lbs from the ground to your waste

• Climb up and down vertical ladders

• Capable of reaching out, over and down exerting a force

• 20/20 eyesight corrected or uncorrected - depth perception is critical

• 10 pushups, deep knee squats and sit-ups (to determine if fit)

• Good hand/eye coordination

• Lifting up to 50 lbs from the ground to your waste
