The Opportunity


Clean Harbors is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join their safety conscious team! The Senior Process Engineer will work independently with minimal supervision to develop and implement technologies that enhance the Company’s waste handling capabilities, increase facility throughput, reduce cost, improve compliance with regulations and improve delivery of waste services to customers.  The Senior Process  Engineer will also provide leadership in the implementation of cost reduction projects including the planning, coordination and evaluation of business improvement initiatives. 

**The position will require 35% travel and will be located in our Norwell, MA location.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Identify, analyze, evaluate, recommend, and implement technologies to improve the Company’s facilities.
  • Monitor the productivity of the Company’s facilities and seek methods to enhance their waste handling capabilities.
  • Develop, define, consistently measure and report on project success criteria and metrics.
  • Recommend and participate in project selection and analysis and advise on prioritization of potential projects and strategies for business improvement opportunities.
  • Identify and seek opportunities to control spending and reduce cost at the Company’s facilities through re-engineering of processes.
  • Related experience is preferred such as operations engineering, project management and process engineering.


What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?


  • B.S. Degree in Engineering required, Chemical Engineering is strongly preferred.
  • P.E. designation is a definite plus.
  • 5-10 years experience 
  • Ability to use Process Simulation software, AutoCAD software, MS Project, and MS Excel spreadsheet development. Experience developing FEED (Front End Engineering Design) Specifications including materials and energy balances, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and specification of equipment.
  • Experience in distillation and mass transfer operations, heat transfer and fluid flow operations.
  • Experience trouble shooting plant operations including distillation columns, heat exchangers and pumps.
  • Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion.
  • Ability to work in and/or lead project specific teams.
  • Effectively communicate remotely on conference calls using MS Teams and WebEx.
  • Ability to write and present issues clearly and succinctly to senior management.
  • Ability to investigate and write White Papers on new and promising technologies.
  • Ability to develop cost analysis and justification for new projects including proforma P&L statements.
