The Opportunity

The Hazardous Waste Coordinator (known internally as the Technical Services Rep) is responsible for reviewing and approving quotes for the Technical Services organization, providing technical support to field chemists and approving customer self-packs into our disposal facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Provides Help line technical assistance to Chemists and Sales Personnel in the field.
  • Review and approve customers self packs destined for Clean Harbors facilities.
  • Review and approve controlled substance shipments.
  • Assists Sales Personnel (Clean Pack Specialists, Account Managers and others) in developing Technical Service business.
  • Maintains same level of field proficiency as Level 3 chemists and or lead CSRs.
  • Maintains and develop expertise in DOT, RCRA knowledge, packing guidelines, CHES billing rules, Health and Safety protocols, waste classifications (CHES codes), and self pack guidelines.
  • Maintains and develop a complete working knowledge of all computer quoting systems.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • BS in Chemistry or related science field preferred
  • 3+ years environmental experience
  • Knowledge of DOT / RCRA regulations
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry
  • Proficiency in Windows based applications including Word and Excel
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to use reference materials to come to decisions
