The Opportunity

Safety-Kleen Canada is looking for a Refinery Operations Manager for our used oil re-refinery in Breslau, ON. This role evaluates plant performance, implements recommendations for reliability improvements and cost optimization, and champions initiatives in support of long-term sustainable profitability of the refinery. You will be responsible in overseeing the operations of the used oil re-refining process including associated tank farms and utilities functions. Main point of contact between Shipping/Receiving, Maintenance and the Laboratory groups. Ensure health and safety, quality and environment and production goals are met. Manages operating expenditures ie. catalyst, chemicals.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Provides hands on leadership and management of refinery operations;
  • Ensures process operation within safe limits, compliance with all regulatory, permit, and corporate EHS requirements and ISO quality standards;
  • Delivers best-in-class operational performance through standardization, continuous improvement, and sharing of best practices; Implements continual improvement plans and projects;
  • Oversees and participates in ongoing preparation, revision, and approval of refinery SOPs;
  • Participates in shutdown planning activities, process troubleshooting, monitoring and analysis of process data;
  • Monitors, manages, and reports overall production of refinery;
  • Responsible for budget costs related to process chemicals, supplies and utilities;
  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, evaluation and discipline of staff.

What does it take to work for Safety-Kleen?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical and/or Mechanical Engineering preferred;
  • Previous experience in a petrochemical environment required;
  • 10+ years managing plant related operations;
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills;
  • Willing to drive change and improvement;
  • Willing to actively participate in the field and troubleshoot;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Computer proficiency.
