The Opportunity

The InSite Program Manager is responsible to oversee all Clean Harbors activities and manage the InSite staff and other staff associated with Clean Harbors' contracted work at a client’s site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner always
  • Responsible for all Clean Harbors' activities and programs on customer’s site
  • Manage and coordinate the efforts of the all Clean Harbors onsite employees
  • Enlist Clean Harbors' corporate resources as needed to ensure 100% customer satisfaction
  • Assist with managing customer’s regulated waste management programs
  • Manage and track facility wide “cradle to grave” waste generation, storage, and disposal
  • Responsible for proper packaging of waste to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance
  • Schedule transportation and disposal for outgoing wastes as needed
  • Provide waste tracking reports as needed
  • Maintain adequate levels of equipment for emergency responses and ongoing projects
  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly inspection
  • Scope special projects and provide estimates
  • Assist customers with compiling data necessary for completing the Generator's Biennial and Annual Report and other required reporting functions
  • Conduct facility wide compliance audits to include inspections of staging, accumulating and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance
  • Provide weekly status reports to SHC/LPCH management
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • High School diploma or equivalent required 
  • B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science preferred
  • 5+ years of environmental experience
  • 3+ years of experience running a hazardous waste program
  • 3+ years of managing a staff
  • Management experience in areas of budgets, record keeping, supervision, planning and liability
  • Ability to develop and deliver training materials and programs related to environmental health, safety, and hazardous materials management
  • Familiarity with regulatory status requirements of Small and Large Quantity Generators
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and database software
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • CHMM or other environmental management certification (Preferred)
  • First Aid/CPR (preferred or completed within one month of hire)
  • Vaccinations (required to work in hospital setting)
  • 40 Hr. OSHA training (preferred or completed within one month of hire)
  • RCRA training (preferred or completed within one month of hire)

Competencies

  • Familiarity with Cal EPA (Title 22), EPA (RCRA), DOT, NRC, and applicable state, county, and city regulations
  • Working knowledge of Profit and Loss management, understand contract scope and language, meet responsibilities and obligations with efficiency and effectiveness
  • Working knowledge of Safety
  • Leadership and management skills. Can communicate to all levels of management
  • Proficient in Windows based applications
  • Must be a team player
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Good organizational skills, can execute and follow-through on requests, takes direction and guidance well, acute listening skills to understand what the customer needs or what Clean Harbors management is asking for, decisiveness, takes initiative, gets jobs done on time and correctly
  • Computer skills/Tech Savvy
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Understanding of hazardous waste rules, bulking, lab packing, consolidating, commingling, segregating, profiling, packaging, labeling, and shipment of regulated waste management in a hospital setting
  • Working knowledge of using spread sheets, pivot tables, phone applications
  • Independent, forward thinking, can drive continuous improvement to the program

Physical Requirements

  • Requires lifting, carrying, grasping, speaking, and listening
  • Requires sitting, standing, walking, pulling and/or pushing, stooping, and crouching
  • Requires climbing, determining color, determining physical states and waste characteristics
  • Will be able to wear a respirator and other PPE as necessary
  • Requires building copak boxes, taping, shrink wrapping of containers on pallets
