The Opportunity

Clean Harbors Norwell, MA is looking for a Rail Transportation Analyst to join their safety conscious team! We’re looking for a dynamic, technology forward individual to help support the company’s goals through KPI’s. This position is responsible for oversight of the rail groups data analytics and metrics.This position would take ownership of department KPI’s and identify opportunities to create new measurements and utilize existing technologies to its full capability. This positon will take ownership of the groups analytics and be a key member to the rail team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Compare rail lane costs to identify lanes where other competitive options are available. Provide analytical data to support changes in lanes.
• Create facility scorecards to increase throughput, thus reducing cycle time.
• Use existing tools and create new tools to analyze rail pools to identify where we need to increase or decrease lanes.
• Analyze rail lanes from origin to destination to ensure maximum size car types are being used and maximum gallons are shipping. Create and provide monthly metrics to track shipments and support all Clean Harbors business units. Strong adherence to customer service.
• Utilize tools to model forecast to add or reduce the railcar fleet. Provide monthly reports for rail vs. truck, rail efficiency shipping, cost savings by transfer for truck to rail and use of best loading / unloading locations. Track growth of rail trans expenses through P&L.
• Understand rail network, rail lines by railroad, general pricing strategies, interchange points to ensure all Operations team can fully implement suggested changes.
• Perform ad-hoc reports based on the developing business needs or and other duties as they develop.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required;
• 1+ year of transportation experience (preferred, not required);
• Excel experience required, SQL and Power Bi experience preferred;
• Problem solving and analytical review;
• Communication and working in team environment once analytics are developed;
• Database understanding and management;
• Number crunching and presentation skills for reports and KPI's good (should not be capitalized) organizational skills and detailed orientated;
• Required to travel 10% of the time.
