The Opportunity

Clean Harbors is looking for a Human Resources Intern to join their safety conscious team! Our MBA Internship Program is a 12-week, paid internship that gives graduate students the opportunity to develop valuable skills with a leader in environmental services and the circular economy. Location is possibly flexible.

This role is designed to give broad exposure to the HR function and will be working directly with SVP Human Resources, SVP Talent Development and VP HR Operations.  Successful candidates will be prepared to start as an HR Generalist or move into a specialist role in recruiting, training, or HRIS.  

Our Human Resources Intern will have ownership over challenging and dynamic projects in multiple core focus areas including:

• Capacity Building – how do we ensure we have enough people to meet the needs of our customers
• Increasing Capability – how do we ensure our employees have the skills they need to meet the needs of our customers
• Enhancing Culture – how do we create the environment where each employee can do what they do best every day.
• Using Data and Analytics – how do we use systems, data, and analytics to measure success and consistently get better.

Interns will have a significant impact on the company through collaboration, innovation, and delivering data-driven business solutions. You will be expected to fully embrace our Core Values of Safety, Teamwork, Integrity, Customer Service, and Stakeholder Value.

Last year, our interns worked on three major areas including:

1.      Employee Life Cycle Survey

2.      Onboarding and Assimilation

3.      Regionalization of Recruitment and Training

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
• Take the lead on collaborative projects within your focus area;
• Establish Key Performance Indicators to measure progress;
• Assist in generating weekly reports to present useful business insights to management;
• Identify areas for improvement and implement actionable solutions;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

• Pursuing a MBA/Masters level degree;
• Maintaining a minimum 3. 0 cumulative GPA at the time of application;
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
• Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize, multi-task, and adhere to deadline;
• Highly analytical with ability to problem-solve and think critically;
• Ability to analyze large data sets.
