The Opportunity

Clean Harbors Norwell, MA is seeking an Environmental Field Inspector to join their safety conscious team! The Environmental Field Inspector, is responsible for completing groundwater and to a lesser extent soil sampling projects at Clean Harbors and customer facilities nationwide. In addition, when not traveling to CHES facilities for sample evens, the Field Inspector will assist with response actions involving site assessment and remediation. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting CHES senior management with sampling projects and at times overseeing and documenting response actions involving, Immediate Response Actions, Release Abatement Measures and Phase I and II investigations at hazardous waste sites in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The work involves extensive travel to CHES facilities and locations nationwide.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Geology or Environmental Sciences is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Serves as Field Inspector for the CHES engineering branch.
  • Part of a project team assisting with small to midsize and technically complex projects involving soil and groundwater sampling, waste site cleanup and construction.
  • Prepare data summaries and written reports. When not traveling the Field Inspector will be part of the CHES on call rotation.
  • Work with field supervisors and technicians in order to meet project objectives.
  • Provides technical support to field service offices.
  • Provides timely, concise and relevant information to superiors and subordinates.
  •  Works closely with the Health and Safety in resolving issues in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.
