The Opportunity

Clean Harbors Omaha, NE is looking for a CleanPack Chemist to join their safety conscious team! As an Environmental Field Chemist (internally referred to as a Clean Pack Chemist), you are responsible for working at various customer and retail locations and collecting, identifying, packaging, loading, and transporting hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

This position will also require obtaining a Class B CDL within the first 6 months of employment. This position will also prepare waste drums for pick-up and delivery at Household / Retail Hazardous Waste facilities and customer sites. Our Chemists will also participate in Household Hazardous waste collection events held on weekends around the region as business demands require, typically 6 times a year (and are scheduled in advance).   Please Note: This is NOT a laboratory-based position. It is 100% field based and will require physical labor work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting with collecting, identifying and packaging hazardous/non-hazardous waste produced within customer facilities;
  • Prepare waste drums for pick-up and delivery;
  • Operate a Class B 26’ Box Truck, drive out to different client sites using the company vehicle;
  • Physically intensive work, loading and unloading materials on truck;
  • Sampling and/or analyzing waste before completing shipping documentation;
  • Assisting on Household Hazardous Waste Programs in the area as business demands require.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • Previous experience in a labor-intensive role required;
  • Previous experience in hazardous material handling, and/or lab packing experience a preference;
  • College degree in chemistry, biology or other natural science preferred;
  • Ability to obtain/retain Class B CDL with Endorsements upon hire;
  • Strong customer service skills required;
  • Ability to travel as business demands require.
