The Opportunity 

Safety-Kleen Metairie, LA is looking for a Production Line Maintenance Mechanic to join their safety conscious team! The successful candidate will be responsible for preventative maintenance and for diagnosing and repairing bottling and packaging equipment with our Metairie facility.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Plans, leads and executes preventative maintenance (PM) according to the PM schedule to minimize equipment downtime;
  • Completes reactive maintenance on production lines to recover from equipment failures by repairing mechanical, electrical, and structural component;
  • Creates retrofits and fabrications, completes machine tear down/repair and assembly;
  • Conducts creative problem solving to identify and perform equipment improvements;
  • Coaches operators and peers on basic maintenance and equipment settings;
  • Participates in special project work on equipment upgrades or installations;
  • Works with team members and operators to ensure the daily production schedule is met;
  • Maintains partnerships with team members and vendors using effective communication;
  • Provides break relief to production operators or team members as needed;
  • Operates a forklift as needed to complete duties. 

What does it take to work for Safety-Kleen? 

  • Technical training and/or certifications are an asset;
  • 3 +years of previous maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment;
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills;
  • Solid computer skills, including the use of Word, Excel, Outlook;
  • Experience with CMMS or ERP systems desired.
