The Opportunity

Safety-Kleen Breslau, ON is looking for an Instrumentation Technician to join their safety conscious team! This individual maintains refinery process instrumentation and systems. They will be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, programming, PMs, preparing documents and purchasing.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Performs preventative and routine maintenance of a variety of refinery instrumentation and systems; i.e. pressure transmitters, level transmitters, temperature indicators, and pneumatic instrumentation;
  • Maintenance of DCS and HMI systems;
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, mechanical work, programming, documentation and purchasing;
  • Advises plant personnel on instrumentation related concerns;
  • Coordinates with other departments as required;
  • Supervises personnel during shutdowns.

What does it take to work for Safety-Kleen?

  • 2+ years’ plant experience in a refinery or chemical manufacturing maintenance setting required;
  • Post Secondary education in instrumentation with 447A accreditation is a must;
  • 309A Electrical Ticket is an asset;
  • Experience in other trades is an asset (i.e. Electrical);
  • High mechanical aptitude with an ability to troubleshoot instrumentation;
  • Self-starter and a team player;
  • Proficient with computer systems.
