Overview

Clean Harbors in San Jose, CA is seeking to add a Receiving Chemist to their team. As a Receiving Chemist, you will perform hands on operations such as Lab Pack Coding/Processing, Drum Receiving/Coding, Identifying waste, Sample analysis, Data entry and Shipping of waste materials. This is not a lab-based position. This is a great way to gain some valuable experience in the field of Chemistry.

Schedule: Sunday-Wednesday (4-10 hour days): 6am-4:30pm (OT required as needed)

Pay Rate: $25/HR

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all time;
  • Responsibility for supply management in their area of responsibility;
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations as well as all applicable company Health & Safety and Compliance protocols;
  • Works closely with logistics organization to manage inventory;
  • Works closely with operations to properly stage, label and prepare all outbound loads and paperwork;
  • Analyzes samples of incoming drums;
  • Identifies waste from samples;
  • Performs data entry;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. BS in Chemistry or related science preferred;
  • Hazardous waste experience can be used in lieu of degree preference;
  • 1+ years of Receiving, Shipping, or Lab Pack experience preferred;
  • Ability to work in team environment, communicate and actively listen required;
  • Solid understanding of math, chemistry and chemical testing required.
