Overview

Clean Harbors in Benicia, CA is looking for an HHW Chemist to join their safety conscious team! This person would be responsible for assisting in the collection, identification and proper packaging and/or lab packing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste at this specific site location as well as spill response activities on site.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Conduct chemical bulking/consolidation as required.
  • Proper loading, packing and segregation of waste to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
  • Ensure work area maintained in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Assisting other Chemists with the execution of assigned lab pack projects.
  • Shift is Tuesday through Saturday, 6:30 a.m. start
  • Tuesday starts later and works until approximately 7:00 p.m.
  • Will participate in Household Waste events & provide guidance on proper segregation & packaging of waste 
  • Responsible for prepping and labeling waste for truck load / transport.
  • Summer months include MANDATORY PARTICIPATION for Household Waste events on Sunday.
  • Must be computer savvy.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Chemistry background is required.
  • Lab Pack experience is preferred.
  • 40 Hour OSHA, DOT preferred.
  • Attention to detail, able to take and follow direction, and to perform multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interface with customers.
