Overview

Safety-Kleen in East Chicago, IN is currently seeking a Refinery Operator I. Your main responsibilities would be tank re-refinery process operations; recording tank gage readings; completing tank transfers and other associated paperwork. We are looking for an individual with time management skills and a flexible schedule. 

Pay Rate: $22.12 HR- Union Rate; yearly raises with CBA, room to move into a Refinery Operator II role in the future.

Shift: Rotating 12-hour shifts, covering days and nights, weekends and holidays. Overtime is required to cover vacations and sick time as needed. Need a very flexible schedule to work at this facility as it is 365-day facility that doesn't close down for weekends or holidays.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Samples process streams and assists with tank farm operations as necessary;
  • Gauge all process tanks every two hours, calculate the product splits yields and relay information to the first operator;
  • Complete tank transfers to control inventory;
  • Obtain routine process samples to verify product quality (this includes the use of supplied air in some cases);
  • Switch and change process filters as needed;
  • Assist other operators as needed;
  • Complete housekeeping tasks in refinery.

Qualifications

What does it take to work for Safety Kleen?

  • The ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays;
  • The ability to work on ladders or at heights;
  • 1+ years of previous experience preferred, preferably in industrial environment or in construction;
  • Basic math skills are required;
  • Ability to effectively communicate refinery changes preferred;
  • Team oriented.
