Overview

Our Safety Kleen location is currently looking to add a Lab Chemist to our team at the Fallon, NV location. The Lab Chemist will be responsible for the routine analysis of samples to determine their chemical and physical properties. This position is lab based and supports our re-refinery in the oil recycling operation.

Schedule: Monday-Friday; 10am-6:30pm. Overtime and Saturday as needed. Flexibility to cover swing shift if other employees are out on vacation- as we are a small team.

Pay Rate: $28+ DOE

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Perform testing on inbound, in-process, and outbound samples;
  • Perform tank analysis to verify product specifications;
  • Develop and review SOPs;
  • Operate and perform troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation;
  • Perform special assignments to assist in lab and plant operations;
  • Prepare standards and reagents for use in calibration and analysis;
  • Provide analytical and other training to lab personnel;
  • Use available tools for scheduling, ordering, sample and data storage;
  • Calibrate and utilize basic instrumentation and maintain equipment under direct supervision;
  • Ensure that all work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines;
  • Develop and implement analytical methods of QA/QC procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What does it take to work for Safety Kleen?

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related science required;
  • 3+ years of experience in a laboratory setting preferred;
  • Experience with wet chemistry; various instruments (ICP and GC) is preferred; 
  • Solid understanding of math, chemistry and chemical testing.
