Overview

Co-Op Quality Assurance

Objective:

Provide a learning opportunity for a Software Engineer candidate interested in Test Automation capabilities as part of the Quality Assurance discipline.

  • Using Azure DevOps modules for Test Management, Test Automation, and Code Management, contribute to various phases of the STLC, with the goal of achieving Systems Automation
  • Validate the quality of input and output test artifacts from the Automation Workflow
  • Gain first-hand experience with Clean Harbors Software Development and Test Life Cycles; be exposed to various business processes; be assigned tasks that benefit the QA organization and the candidate

Each candidate will have a mentor and provide weekly status reports to the mentor.  At the conclusion of the Co-Op, the candidate will deliver a final presentation to the MIS Leadership Team detailing their newfound learning and how they plan to leverage it in the future, if at all.  This program will help the Co-Op student learn about the sustainable waste management business and assist Clean Harbors with identifying potential new hires as part of an ongoing recruiting effort to find and attract top talent.

Responsibilities

The Co-Op QA will perform the core responsibilities of a Software Engineer in Test:

  • Code Management using Azure DevOps and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) for controlled deployments into pre-production sandbox environments
  • Use Azure Test Plans and/or Microsoft Test Manager to execute test cases, confirm completeness/correctness, then input test cases into the Automation Workflow
  • Use Microfocus UFT (previously known as QTP) to execute automated test scripts
  • Analyze automation test run results and participate in resolving automation script issues
  • Gain an understanding of the Test Automation Frameworks at Clean Harbors
  • Understand Scrum methodology and participate in project team Scrum meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Current student pursuing a master’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, or related degree preferred.  Exceptional undergraduate students in the same disciplines may be considered.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Basic understanding of writing SQL queries
  • Some experience with the Microsoft stack of technologies, MS Visual Studio, MS SQL Server, .NET, and VBScript
  • Great attitude, strong appetite for learning, and a positive work ethic
  • Strong desire to witness the impact of Testing and Quality Assurance on the Business
