The Opportunity:

Clean Harbors Norwell, MA is looking for a Fuel Tax Supervisor to join their safety conscious team! The Fuel Tax Supervisor is responsible for the record keeping and auditing of dispatch and trip reports for mileage tracking, calculations, and fuel tax reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize & archive mileage and fuel records;
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of driver-supplied trip reports and documentation;
  • Prepare, review and submit all tax filings related to Fuel tax, NY HUT & Weight/distance in USA. 
  • Potential lead in preparation, review and submission of tax files related to fuel tax in Canada
  • Assist in preparation of DOT MCS-150 with provision of unit mileage for respective DOT motor carriers.
  • Assist with preparation of International registration plan renewals
  • Work with the field to recover any missing information;
  • Audit dispatch and trip entries and invoices, including correcting inaccurate entries;
  • Assist in training the field on properly completing trip reports and navigating the internal system; Act as point of contact for the field;
  • Identify delinquent submittals, units, and/or departments;
  • Resolve workbench issues pertaining to missing and overlapping miles;
  • Compile documentation for mileage and fuel tax compliance audits conducted by the various states;
  • Aid in monitoring Company-wide compliance with policies and procedures as they relate to mileage and fuel tax;
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • 3+ years industry experience preferred;
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor Degree preferred;
  • Excel experience- Pivot Tables and V-lookups required;
  • Macros experience preferred;
  • Organize & archive mileage and fuel records;
  • Aid in monitoring Company-wide compliance with policies and procedures as they relate to mileage and fuel tax;
  • Help maximize the amount of fuel claimed through utilization of internal fuel procurement team and fuel program resources;
  • Identify delinquent submittals, units, and/or departments;
  • Assist in training the field on properly completing trip reports and navigating the T&D system in Win Web;
  • Resolve workbench issues pertaining to missing and overlapping miles;
  • Compile documentation for mileage and fuel tax compliance audits conducted by the various states.
