The Opportunity:

Clean Harbors in Norwell, MA is looking to add a Entry Level Staff Regulatory/Litigation Attorney to our team. The Regulatory/Litigation Attorney assists the General and Assistant General Counsel in managing a broad range of legal matters. Under the supervision of senior counsel, the Staff Attorney handles dynamic and complex regulatory and litigation matters involving the company's interests and those of its subsidiaries. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides general legal support on environmental, compliance and general regulatory and legal matters.
  • Assists with implementing corporate policies; conducts training as appropriate.
  • Conducts legal investigations on a wide variety of pending or potential claims/disputes, prepares necessary reports and analysis, and provides counsel and recommendation to the Company
  • Conducts research and prepares legal briefs and memoranda on legal issues.
  • Provides support and guidance to departments on litigation law matters.
  • Manages a portfolio of legal and regulatory matters.
  • Assists with the management of outside counsel relationships, including obtaining fee estimates for projects and ensuring that the billing is in compliance with the Company’s outside counsel policy.
  • Handles other duties and responsibilities as assigned by general or Assistant General Counsel.

Basic Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree.
  • Member of at least one state bar.
  • 1+ of work experience.
  • Strong PC skills, knowledge of Word, Excel, Westlaw, PowerPoint and Outlook a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and/or ongoing direction.
  • Willingness to periodically travel when required.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks, work on and meet high profile and time sensitive matters with short lead times, and independently manage a high-volume caseload and meet tight deadlines.
  • Able to perform general office skills.
