The Opportunity:

Safety-Kleen is seeking a Technical Director - Lubricants.

This role will provide a wide range of expert level technical support and product development to all areas within the company’s quality program, base oil and finished product lines. It will assist in the development of new products, product documents, technical training and provide field and sales support as required to expansion and grow business segment. Reports to VP of Technical Services and Quality Control.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Ensures Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Strengthen the team with the addition of contacts and relationships developed from prior experience to enhance the capabilities and access of the team;
  • Key company representative in industry organizations such as API, ASTM, SAE etc;
  • Create and develop multiple new products for implementation into the industry for customers;
  • Support client discussions and testing programs to add additional customers to the finished lubricant portfolio by determining assisting in finished product formulation and rebranding options;
  • Attend industry events as the subject matter expert for SK and form key strategic industry relations which support business growth. Present as required as a product expert;
  • General QC/QA problems;
  • Product Improvement and Development;
  • Industry research and development;
  • Other duties as required.

What does it take to work for Safety-Kleen? 

  • 5 -10 years of progressive experience within the Lubricants industry, technical or marketer industry required;  
  • Experience in finished lubricant manufacturing and a business;
  • Experience working closely with customer and technical management required;
  • Bachelor’s in science or equivalent qualifications;
  • Willing to travel 20%. Varies based on time of year and program/customer support needs.
