Job Description

The Opportunity:

The Health and Safety Manager will provide comprehensive safety and health direction and support to operational leaders and front-line employees within the New England region. The H&S Manager will provide guidance and direction to management and various personnel on implementing the company’s Health & Safety Programs and promoting continuous safety improvement. As a Manager, they are expected to provide a high level of technical and management support as well as daily interaction with front-line employees. The H&S Manager also supports and assists in other H&S needs throughout the company as necessary and as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
• Job site safety audits and inspections;
• Record-keeping;
• Industrial hygiene monitoring;
• Task level hazard assessments;
• safety performance tracking and reporting
• Safety and health training;
• Incident and accident investigation and tracking;
• Health and Safety program development;
• Other responsibilities as needed.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

• A BS/BA in Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field is strongly preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for education;
• 5+ years’ experience in HAZWOPER Emergency Response, Confined Space Entry and Excavation is strongly preferred;
• Strong time management skills;
• Strong relationship builder that can facilitate organizational learning and understanding with a wide array of audiences and the ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Excellent knowledge of Federal and State health and safety regulations;
• Strong understanding of OSHA required particularly related to excavation and general construction safety.
