The role ensures adherence to federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. Involves ongoing oversight and support of operations, with occasional travel to facilities as needed for inspections, audits, regulatory engagement, and incident response.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities</strong><br><ul><li>Conducts formal and systematic reviews of the facility and fleet activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for environmental affairs and health and safety.</li><li>Prepare reports and documents as required by regulatory agencies, corporate and facility management.</li><li>Identifies problems and recommends corrections; prioritizes and follows-up on corrections regarding areas of non-compliance or potential non-compliance.</li><li>Advises corporate and facility management regarding procedural and operational measures to correct or minimize non-compliant activities regarding environmental regulations<strong>.</strong></li><li>Serves as liaison between facilities and regulatory personnel on assigned environmental projects and activities. </li><li>Prepares and submits all required notifications/reports and participates in management team investigations as needed.</li><li>Monitors regulatory changes for the purpose of insuring compliance with upcoming changes in federal, state, and local rules and regulations associated with her reporting requirements.</li><li>Provides guidance to sales and field personnel concerning federal, state, and local environmental regulations associated with regulatory reporting for their locations/fleets.</li><li>Perform audits of internal facilities and fleet activities to ensure they are managing their waste transactions in accordance with their permits.</li><li>Performs other duties and tasks assigned from time to time by management to meet the needs of the Clean Harbors business.</li><li>Occasional travel to facilities as needed for audits, inspections, investigations, and other compliance-related activities.</li><li>Internal audit of waste tracking, risk management with regulatory agencies, customers and regulatory compliance associated with site/fleet regulatory reporting processes.</li><li>Provide training to field as needed for waste related initiatives. </li><li>Compile and submit regulatory reports within the EPA defined due dates. Ensure accuracy, validity and completeness of all documentation used when preparing and submitting reports. </li><li>Prepare responses to Regulatory Agency requests, as required.</li><li>Coordinate changes to regulatory reports with MIS, provide overviews of desired results and detailed testing of applicable changes.<ol><li>Testing for MIS system changes for waste related processes in both waste systems.</li><li>Testing of MIS system changes for regulatory reports.</li></ol></li><li>Coordination with the CPG/Outbound group to establish new profiles, if needed, or to amend existing profiles, depending on the situation.</li><li>Liaison for Legal Department for data retrieval.</li><li>Review and implementation of process improvements.</li><li>Managing projects as assigned such as TRI, Tier II, NPRI, GMDR and the Municipality reporting projects.</li></ul><br><br><b>QUALIFICATIONS</b><br><br><strong>Qualifications</strong><br><ul><li>BS/BA degree (required)</li><li>BS/BA in Environmental Science, Chemical/Environmental Engineering, or Engineering (preferred)</li><li>2+ years of environmental compliance experience (preferred)</li><li>Strong knowledge and practical experience with key regulatory programs, including:<ul><li>CAA (Clean Air Act)</li><li>RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act)</li><li>NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System)</li><li>SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans)</li></ul></li><li>Multi-state environmental compliance experience (preferred)</li><li>Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills</li><li>Strong organizational and project management skills</li><li>High level competencies in MS Office.</li><li>Completing regulatory reports with deadlines to state and/or federal agencies.</li></ul><br><strong>Reports Managed:</strong><br><ul><li>Federal, State, Transport or municipality Waste Reports and fees - US and Canada.</li></ul><br><strong>Competencies:</strong><br><ul><li>Knowledge of DOT and USEPA/STATE EPA regulations - MOE Canada</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills</li><li>Excellent organizational skills</li><li>Deadline oriented</li><li>Project oriented</li><li>Familiar with waste tracking systems.</li><li>Attention to detail, motivated and self-starter.</li></ul><br>Clean Harbors is an equal opportunity employer. <br><br>Clean Harbors is committed to providing access, equal opportunity and reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities in employment, its services, programs, and activities.
